Axle Ratio and Tire Size

From Faq

Axle Ratio Calculator

An axle ratio calculator, along with other handy calculators are located here: 4LO.com Calculators

Tire Size Calculator

A metric to standard tire size calculator is located here: Tire Size Calculator

Example:

265/75/16

  • "265" is the section width, in millimetres
  • "75" is the aspect ratio
  • "16" is the rim size

In order to determine the standard size of the above tire:

  1. Divide 265mm by 25.4mm, the answer is the section width in Inches,
  2. Multiply this number by 0.75 to calculate the sidewall height,
  3. To determine overall diameter, multiply the answer from Step two by 2, and add 16.

So from the above calculations a 265/75/16 tire measures 31.6" x 10.4". Actual sizes vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.
