I am not totally sold on this answer. I seem to have seen a better explanation before, but I am having a hard time finding that one

I'll post back if I am able to find it.

Nice! Seems Toyota is doing good with the new Cruisers. a local member of our just brought one home also.

I understand about what you were saying about the family not fitting in the Tacoma anymore. we used to be able to go anywhere with the wife in the front and the three kids in the back, but now that two of the three are taller than I am now, they are cramped.

Here is how I am solving the issue:

We started with this:
http://www.shutterfly.com/view/pictures.jsp (I hate shutterfly)

and then it went to this with a full interior roll cage:

so to solve the issues, I have bought two of the three kids these:

Just got to finish both of these 40 now!

WOW lucky kids! Mine are still young 2 and 9....the nine year old hates the stick thingy I use to drive all my vehicles it is rather funny. There is an older FJ here in town for sale....wife would not let me buy....I have enough projects. I will stop by and take pics of it with a phone number in case someone is in the market for one.....they are getting hard to find. Thanks for all the info Bear

I like this answer from yahoo:

NOTHING THAT MATTERS. IT IS JUST A TRIM LEVEL. IT MAY EVEN STAND FOR SOMETHING REAL IN JAPAN BUT NOT HERE.

This is a pretty cool site for Land Cruiser History.

Because it launches as a Flash site I can't find the direct link.

Go to the FJ Cruiser Bulletin site here.

Click on Section 4: Origins

Then Authentic Off-Road

Then Launch the Land Cruiser Heritage Site.

Cool stuff.
