Default My truck is now officially badass*

*pun intended

So today was the point of no return
Gave my truck a new ass for it's 10,000km (6250 miles) anniversary

First step, remove bumper..

Then, start the for the test cut...

Then do cuts about 1 inch lower than expected height... (no picture)

Then put the new bumper with 2x4s to space it out lower and be able to trace the cut lines exactly where they need to be..

Then do the final cut

And voilà!

Here is a video of a cut...

p.s. thanks for Freeze and oriontaco for the help. This thing is heavy! Glad I had the forklift

Yep, I agree the bumper looks badass!

Now you need to cut the exhaust pipe....it looks....

Great grind job - BTW.

How about a write-up on how you added bracing or support to the fenders and body sides?

It's a beautiful thing

Yes we ran out of time.

I need to cut the exhaust which looks retarded (and later get the even more retarded toyota designed exhaust crossover)

and I also need to install the shackle flip kit, but this required more grinding and drilling.

I also didn't have time to connect the reverse lights and licence plate lights. I'll have to add a small brace between the interior and the fender where the flare is, in order to make sure it doesn't move into the wind.

it's a fully equipped Armor Tech Offroad bumper, with the new removable licence plate holder. It's made by Fire931 on the forum. Very, very solid.

if you can solder (or have a steady hand to learn) you can do it easily. I still have to do the steering wheel control, window control, radio, HVAC, but I ran out of LEDs, they are on order

I didn't wanna say anything about that exhaust but yea, time for a trim. If you have not researched the reverse light mod these might help

Eh...my ego is swollen enough as it is. Just ask my girlfriend, she'll tell you.

I looked up Armor Tech Off Road's website and it doesn't give much detail and isn't much for visuals either. I think it's a great looking bumper, but I'd like some more info on how it is supported on the sides, how much reinforcement is around the recovery points, how it's bolted to the frame, what needs to be done to stabilize the body panels and fender, etc..but mostly importantly how much it costs!

I could have used that bumper yesterday! Broke one taillight and cracked the T case wide open. I know, I know the bumper would not have helped with the T case but would have saved me a light.

Looks awesome!

Kevin could take some close up pictures, it's beefy.. extremely beefy

I can take pictures of the bolting, it uses the stock mounting point, with 5 bolts each side (2 below and 3 on the side).

here's a few pictures of them where you can see the side supports and whatnot.. as far as bolting on it uses the stock 10 mounting bolts that the factory hitch uses. i'll also include a picture of the small brace i made for the bedside to keep it stable in the wind.

ohh and the shackle mounts pass all the way through the main bumper, are welded on the front and then weld on the back both to the bumper and to the mounting bracket.

here's is the license plate mount that goes into the hitch.

the small brace for the bedside i made.

another shot of the bracing

Very nice!

Badass indeed!

I don't think I've ever seen that bumper before. I'll definitely have to show that to my buddy (looking to build up his '09).

I like the overall look of your truck - wheels, bumpers, sliders, color - everything. It's long as hell, though. Approaching 'Cowboy Cadillac' status!

My first thought when I saw the rear - makes it look HUGE!!

Killer truck though, now I want to see it in person!

Just go home from a business trip to Vancouver, Canada. To all you Canadians... you've got one nice country! I will be back in the winter with my truck, so I am going to need to meet up with you Canadians to show me the ropes eh?
