Default Custom DO Rear Bumper

I will have more pics next week but this is what we have so far. It's going to end up with a tire swing out gate, powder coated with all the fixins.

Looks very nice! Gotta commit to hacking off the rear quarters but they are already an over-hang issue.
How much?

This one is a complete custom, cutting off the rear bed portion building a full swing out tire carrier cutting holes for cool back up LED lights shackles it's getting everything the swing out is going to have some new ideas thrown at it like a y strap for the spare and it's going to mount on the inside instead of the outside.

We are thinking about doing a milder version for those that don't want to cut that would fill in those back body panels and make the side protection (tube) a bolt on option as well as a bolt on tire gate.

I was going to ask you just this.. Instead of a wraparound bumper just filling in space on either side.. What about making the end caps more flush with the tube part with reciever hitch? Just and idea?

There are certain things the truck won’t let us do and while some people are ok with cutting holes in there bed for a hitch receiver to fit. Some are not along with the spare tire space.

If we do a production one the price will be more in reach of every body and you can add parts on as you want. For example a base bumper, then the side protection tubes and then the swing out gate.

ya, I agree 4 hardcore wheeling definately get the wraparound.. For me it's too new to cut the rear quarter panel off lol... I've actually not really looked too hard at my rear bumper to see how mch room there is back there.. What price are you guessing for just bumper with side inserts?

It doesn't take harcore wheeling to smash the rear of the bed. Both sides of my bed past the wheel well are toast, and I'm far from hardcore. The truck is so wide and long going thru the woods...it's like having a big metal tail.

This bumper looks like it has been well thought-out and addresses all the wheeling issues that plague the rear portion of these trucks. Very nice.

Finally some nice plate bumpers from Demello. You need to see the rear bumper I have now. Looks very similar to what you are building.

Ya, know not trail riding stuff.. Not really hardcore stuff...But not easy wheeling.. I've come close to crunching mine a few times.. Looked back and mudflaps laying in the trail with about .5" clearance from quarter panel to ground..

I just kinda tried to make a point that a lot of people that wheel and don't want to cut their truck would be fine with the regular one.. if you wheel a lot and it's already beat to hell lol why not butcher it up and get a wraparound

this style bumper existed for SUVs before the 05+ tacoma was out. besides, the person that deserves credit for the base idea is j-mca

I think this is a great idea, I am very interested. My truck is way to new to be cutting, but I would like some side protection.

Dude im not going to argue who invented the idea of a bumper but seriously j-mca was a couple years behind the power curve.
Not that anyone cares about all that.
What they all want to know, Demello, are you going to mass produce and ship this bumper? My guess is no, half of them wont fit and the other half will be crooked.
But i honestly hope you prove me wrong...... Cause it's feeeeeeeeeeken sweeeet!

We actually did a bumper like this on the first new generation 4runner that came out so we didn't get the idea from anyone else. Certain body styles limit you to what you design given certain factors like protection, ground clearence and where you attatch to.

I actually wanted this style on my "BEAST" before Jason talked me into the tube style, and getting rid of my bed.

Wow, 22 posts on this board and you have it all figured out already. Sorry you had troubles with products you purchsed in the past from whom ever you purchased them from.

Knowing alittle about how vehicles are built, the way they are taken care of or the lack there of, and the abuse many of these vehicles take before anyone ever modifies them is part of the reason " half of them won't fit and the other half will be crooked".

People have been asking Jason to build these for a long time for the Tacomas, and now he's got them going, or at least the custom version and you already have " half of them won't fit and the other half will be crooked " Wow!

Just read all the rest of your posts and viewed your profile. Now I understand........

If we did a production bumper simular to this we wouldn't do one quite like this but something that didn't require cutting so much. A customer brought us a picture of what he wanted. And we are building it with some changes.

Wow those lines look pretty close. This one is being built for a customer he brought us a picture of something simular but we even changed it from the picture. That is pretty close but the final product will be much differnt than what was pictured above and the one you posted. No it will not be shipped its for a customer that is local.

That is the picture we were brought, were making a couple changes to that design. Plus a tire carrier.

I'm not sure I understand the history here, does anther company make a bumper like this or not? I usually don't build something unless I can find a way to improve it. If someone is already building them and can't build them????
Like I said I don't see allot of people wanting to cut up there beds.

armorology only does custom work on site which is what this bumper is. just because u live in CO where armorology is based doesnt mean u need to stick up for them. i could name 6 different companies that make a square tube center section bumper with d rings (demello, bentup, etc..) that doesnt mean that they stole eachothers design. it looks very clean, i like the plated side protection..too bad i already have one of your bumpers

Sweet dreams princess. Oh and you should bring the rock caddy out to Calico sometime and take me for a ride dude. I don't know why everybody gets hung up on bumper design so damn much, it either works good or it doesn't, who cares who invented it. I like the the bumper design with the tire carrier, keep up the good work boys.
