i bought the terra grapplers based on their reviews and the price, i needed an all terrain cause round here there's snow for 4 months of the year and M/T's will get you killed real quick on icy roads..... they have been great, ride real nice, quiet, affordable, and don't even show any real wear after a year of driving so i'm very happy with them. I take it on the highway to the lake and such with all the gear and they are good on gas too, this truck is better than my 97 4runner (both supercharged) that didn't have nearly the lift or tire size (285 pro comps on the runner) fuel wise partially attributed to the tires i'd imagine......

naylor is right tho, you need the tire size to fit the wheel otherwise it looks low pro and not offroadish at all..... my buddy has 20's with 35's and it forsure looks like a mall crawler....... i like to think i'm borderline agressive with this setup, i'm sure everyone else here will disagree :P

Flow, you asked for an opinion, you got an opinion...most people here are gonna say the same thing, if you're running wheels larger than 17", you are either running a massive tire or you're talking about your tow rig. If you want offroad equipment, get offroad equipment...Rockstars are marketed to the mall crowd.

If you want a set, get them. Just be aware that they will only suffice for mild to moderate (at most) offroad work, and you risk tearing up the finish on an expensive rim every time you take them off the pavement.

Your best option is to get a set of wheels and tires that looks nice and is appropriate for commuting...any size you like, get what looks good to you...like these wheels, for example...and then invest in a set of less expensive, more durable wheels, and significantly more aggressive tires...that way you can swap before trail day, so you're not wasting soft aggressive tires on pavement, or trying to push light duty low-pros down the trail.

This is some solid advice, don't listen to the guys just here to bash. This option really gives you the best of both worlds. You can try to find a tire with a nice balance between on and off road performance but really you are going to have the best success running a hardcore offroad tire and then a set of all terrains for daily driving.

M/T's on ice will get you killed? No.

Thats like saying guns kill people. No, people kill people. (not to that extreme, i know. I'm simply using it as a reference)

The person behind the wheel will get you killed if you do not know how your truck behaves with different tires. The tires have nothing to do with it, it's driver skill. Colorado winters are pretty gnarly (year dependent) with lots of iced over roads and such. I've only had an unexpected problem once with mud terrains on ice, since then I've learned from it and have came up with a solution to prevent it. Even the single time it has happened, it was easily corrected via the driver. I've seen it A LOT with plenty of people. I see more people with A/T's in accidents/ditches than I do with M/T's because they're usually the "Duhh snow? I have 4wd i can go FAST" type.

Not really directing this at you, or flaming you. Just stating it.

I'll vouch for the TG's though. My ex girlfriend had them on her chevy 1500 and even for how big of a pile that truck was, it went through some things it shouldn't of gone through, and those tires lasted 50k or more being abused (no alignments, no balancing, no rotating, etc.)

God, I am loving every bit of this thread right now. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a Rockstar rollin' Ford/Chevy driving frat boy down here and it's so annoying.. meanwhile I'm running my crappy 16" Pro Comp 8069s... This thread is seriously cracking me up. I knew the responses I was gonna read the second I read the thread title.

Oh, please continue
