I've been using this oil in my truck since I got it 8 years ago. Everyone here in town swears by it. However, it's made just down the road. So I was just curious what everyon elses thoughts were on it. Haven't had any issues, but was just thinking about it. I have heard and experienced nothing but great things, but since it's a local product everone swears by it. Just lookin for an outside opinion.

I ran it for a while it's definitely good stuff but not worth the money for my 20+ year old motors.
A cheap sinthetic blend does me just fine. If i had a newish motor i would probably run the Royal Purple though

you're more than likely going to get blasted for not just searching. most ppl on this board don't like it...claiming they have either had it destroy an engine or know someone that did.
I'm running Mobile 1 in the engine and Redline/Amsoil in the trans/TC/Diffs...but did run the synchromaxx in my old TT Stealth and liked it

Royal Purple is one of the best lubes out there, but there are a few that can hang in there as the best as well. The price is the only thing that gets me. I change oil every 3k so that gets expensive. Regular oil worked just fine for the last 30 years of my life. I would run RP if I was into racing or precision motor rebuilding.

Never used RP. Any oil pretty much will give you the same results. Ive used Amsoil, Redline, Mobil, Pennzoil Platinum, Syntec...all have givin me pretty good results as far as cleaning. If you want to know what works best get a oil analysis done.

Just don't use the gear oil in your trans.(if it's a manual) because it sucks ass! It also eats at the brass syncro's.The Toyota trans. don't like gear oil.You must use a manual trans oil.Maybe RP makes one now,i don't know. But the motor oil is good, just remember it is NOT full synthetic,so to me it's over-priced.

just replaced all the lubricants today...
axle's = Mobile 1 Trans = Amsoil -------------- } best choice for these. IMO TCase = Amsoil Engine = Mobile 1 I've also read several complaints about RP used in the trans... But never cared to find out fer myself. |

I've run RP and I'm running Mobil 1 all the way around now. And the RP is not worth the extra money IMO. I like the Mobil 1 the best in my motor, axles, and T-Case. Its ok in the trans.

amsoil, go with amsoil. Iv heard good and bad about RP, i ran it in my jeep which did well.
but it doesnt compare to amsoil. a little cheaper too.

unless you're having it analyzed, there's no way to tell if one oil is better than another.
post up if you have some data backing your claim.

http://www.amsoil.com/lit/g2457.pdf Yes this is an amsoil study - though as legit as any outside source from the looks of it. Have a look and see. I have personally never heard any good things about Royal Purple from any "backed" perspective. |

i would only use RP for high performance applications. trucks dont need RP. stick with good ol cheap dino oil or mobil 1 every 3k-5k/7.5k and you will be fine.
