Default 4XInnovations Tacoma Tube Bumper Review

I haven't seen or read much about the 4xInnovations bumper online, so I figured I would do a little review. Also, I think this is the right section..? Cause it aint 4x4 tech.. Anyway..

Last month (10/2) I placed my order with 4Xinnovations for a Tacoma tube winch bumper. Since there's not much about it online I figured I would do a little review.

First things first, I ordered 10/2 and the bumper was delivered 11/3. To tell you the truth I was expecting ~3~ weeks but no biggie.
Cost was 665 with shipping to southern california.

The bumper itself is made out of a combination of 1.75x.120 DOM and HREW tubing. Weld's look awesome and the bumper seems to be very well constructed. Fit is pretty good, Only one bolt does not line up, And I believe it is because of the accident I got into a while ago. 5 outta 6 bolts aint bad

The thing that drew me towards this bumper more than the AllPro tube bumper is the fact that since my Tacoma is a 99 I have the end of the frame that's the odd ball of the Taco's. If I were to purchase an AP bumper I would have to chop off 3" from the front of my frame, AND I would not be able to use the aftermarket skids I already own without modification.
So this led me to 4XI.

Here's a few picture's

I did purchase the 1 bend stinger, But I dont know if I will be able to mount my lightforces yet, So we will see

I suppose other then the middle where the winch mounts, the approach angle is well improved

Wrap around provide fender protection..

Yes, it is painted white. That is not primer. I think the white pops off of the dark green truck.

All in all, I LOVE IT !
It looks awesome, Flows with the body line's and is sturdy as hell.

Click here for more info on the bumper

Thanks Adam !!

Yea everything lines up pretty well for the most part, To me it looks like the wrap arounds are very slightly different. Moot without taking a close look.
And like I said the 1 bolt not lining up is my truck fault not his.
I'm very happy with it, does suck yours was fubar though

And thanks Matt!

Nice bumper, but poor choice in color IMO. You could have got the same effect with a graphite color, or even red. I guess I am just not a big fan of white.

good looking bumper, good looking truck.

Color of the bumper looks cool, matchs the bed bob paint. LOL. Also nice signal lights. I ran mine like that for a few months. Better get to that turn signal mod before you break a bulb.

I think red would look weird. I have a weird sense of colors. Black would blend in like, it's hard to see my sliders as it is. And like TAW said right below you it matches the bed bob paint

Thanks and thanks !

Adam at 4XI. offers turn signal lights for the bumper. But they happen to be back ordered right now. I think it'll only be a little while longer.
The one's he sell's are what sar squid is running

I tried to do my best with a write up review, If anyone has any questions about the bumper, shoot. Also if you want a certain detail pic just ask, I know one thing that's lacking on the 4XI site is good detail pictures of the wrap around and such

Good review. I have taken some of the designs from that bumper when I had mine made up.

As far as turn signals, those look to be simply truck cab clearance lights like I had on my dually. You can buy them from any truck store or on eBay.

Haven't really figured out how I want to do my turn signals yet either... I like how TacoDell did his though.

I really just didnt feel like fabbing turn signal mounts in order to use the stock ones. Also my passenger side front signal just recently got smashed up so new ones are welcome

I like what Dell did aswell, But again just didnt feel like fabbing something up. When I could just order them from Adam and the mount would already be on the bumper

Good write-up. I don't really care for the white color. I would have gone with a gray color, if you wanted it to stand out more from the truck...

Here's my bumper build thread:

Yep - the lights on my bumper are LED Clearance Lights (like what's above the windshield on a dually). I took some sheet metal and fabricated a little bracket to insert the lights into the bumper from the back side - so the bracket is pretty much invisible.

If you tried to re-use the stock turn signals it would look like a big pile of dicks. The stock turn signals are too odd shaped, and WAAAYYY too big. It would detract from the clean / simple looks of this bumper.

Looks good Steve, now you have more armor than me.

Why not mod the corner lights to do both parking light duty and turn signal duty? Shouldn't be hard, just a simple relay and some extra wiring.

Relays and extra wiring not required

Tell the truth I've never really been a fan of the corner light mod, It works great for some people but I think the way the signals Adam offers look great on this thing.

Yeah. The turn signals on here look clean. I think I'll try it with my tube bumper. The dual turn/park lights thing just doesn't seem that great to me.

Real nice bumper and the color is cool too....
Only thing that would worry me is the ends of the bumper looks (on the side view photo) like they are intruding into the wheel well.
Meaning if you went to a larger wheel, during flexing it could hit the bumper.
I would want my bumper be out of the way in that critical area.

Great write up too!

What size lift and tires do you have? I have 32's and 2.5" of lift and your truck looks huge compared to mine.
