Hi. I see that the adapter plates are still not available from ruffstuff and the ones listed on Sky are for chevy calipers. Would those brakets from Sky work for the front Tacoma calipers? Mine are from a 2002, so it came with 16" wheels. Or does anyone know who else would make a bracket for Tacoma calipers? Thanks

OK thanks. So, would they require a bit of grinding, or is it a complete fit?

sky's brackets fit tacoma axle 'ends' and CHEVY calipers... NO, Chevy calipers and Tacoma calipers are not in the least bit interchangeable.

Oh OK, I get it now. Thanks. Does anyone perhaps know what the exact offset of the brackets is? I see that they are bent to the outside, and I'm thinking I'd be better off if I make my own brackets that will fit the Taco calipers I already have.

do you have a plate bender that can handle 5/16" plate? that's what you'll need.I do have the Sky kit including the Chevy brake parts fs ...got them on a Diamond axle that I just bought and don't need them. Rotors, calipers, pads, brackets. They are front calipers so no ebrake.

No, but I actually had no intention to bend the plate. Instead I can cut the plate out of 1/2" steel and then weld the appropriate size spacer to the outside of the plate to give me the correct offset for attaching the Taco caliper. Would still be a lot of work, though, but so far my truck is 100% Toyota, and I plan on keeping it that way. No chevy calipers, please.

I think I'll try the SKY brackets with the Chevy calipers.

Can anyone please put all this info together in a step by step process with parts and tools and how to/pictures and hook a guy up. I feel like I'm piecing 10 different web sites together trying to get the same thing, I'm confused as hell now. I did a rear brake swap on my 87 4Runner(some problems) and now I want to do it to my daily driver 2000 Taco.
And another question, does anyone make a transfer case disc brake dealywhoo for Tacoma's? Thanks, Chris

I talked to PartsMike at the easter jeep safari in Moab about using his caliper for the atlas and modding it onto a mount for the tacos. I still have all the trial stuff from the Ballistic one so I planned on just modding the old mount to hold the better caliper from Mike and using one of the rotors I already had. Just haven't had the money or time to pick up the caliper lately.

I haven't had an e-brake for years now. Some people really like the line locks. If you go that route I recommend a manual one that doesn't require electrical power to keep it engaged.

something to do with clearance issues. Balistic tried but it didn't work so he discontinued it.

well if i was to install a line lock, since that is about my only option, where do most people put it? inside the cab or what? cause that would seem like a pain to run lines into the cab...

Others may have different opinions/ suggestions, but first thing to remember is that they are illegal on the road. The electrical ones can be mounted on the firewall by the brake booster, but you cannot leave them on and as far as I know, the best place to mount the manual ones is by running lines into the cab. You may be able to use an actuator, like a power antenna or cruise control actuator to actuate the manual linelock remotely with a switch, though.

I lived in a trailer while I was putting myself through college. Joke if you want but I am not ashamed of it, this way I still had some funds for wheeling. Quote:

Its amazing how you leave a thread for a little while and people start talking smack ![]() BTW This setup is still working great on my rig. Any more questions let me know.
