Needs to be a balance between all the functions. Maybe you are going to only do this one very specific thing and you give up this for that- but while you are building a hillclimber (whatever that means) that needs to do this, maybe you want to build something a little more versatile and have the longer travel without having to compromise too much on stability. It is all relative though- you are wide as fuck to begin with, but you are also tall. Ultimately, I think if you ran the numbers right, with a stiff spring rate you could justifiably move the COs in at the bottom and still be relatively stable.
For what its worth, everything I read said shocks had to be mounted "laid back" so I built it like that for my COs. But everybody that was saying laid back was building/had leaf sprung rigs and I ended up having to move mine behind the axle to get the angle more appropriate for a linked rig. Everything is relative.

no but i did get a crossmember made and put on as well as the 10" CO's and rear shocks.
The only thing i have to do is a front driveshaft and tires. That and a year down the road convert to full hydro (you have no idea how many issues that fixes......oh wait, yeah you probably do)

yeah, your right...daily driving around on 37's and 3.73's would be the best thing to do.

uh, I think he's waiting to gear whatever new axles he comes up with rather than wasting $ and time on the OE rear.

same end answer, just a different reasoning. besides i need a job and im so freaking stressed right now that i am making stupid mistakes(like telling my committee that my exam date is the 16th when its the 19th.........long story) i hardly had time (and $) to put the 33's on the 16" rims this weekend and then put them on my truck......"regearing" just makes me laugh to hard to actually take that notion too seriously right now.

yeah, it has a TRE style high steer setup which is causing some problems (the geometry is tight so the drag link hits the tierod near full stuff) so while it IS driveable, im holding back abit til my heim-style setup gets in, basically just driving on little trips across town every once in awhile, then checking everything to make sure bolts are staying tight and stuff like that. It drives pretty good considering its not an IFS truck anymore. Everyone was right....it was a huge change, i had to kind of learn it all over again.
